The SNP in Fife have announced that their candidate for East Neuk & Landward in May’s council elections will be Alycia Hayes.
Alycia was a professional opera singer for 18 years, working in Paris, London and the USA before returning to Scotland to start a family and become more involved in Scottish politics. She continues to teach singing and has recently been working in estate agency for a prominent, Fife based, Estate and Lettings Agency.
Alycia has been a member of the SNP since 1996. Her previous roles in the party have included Constituency case worker for ex-minister Bruce Crawford. From 2012-17 she was an SNP Councillor for Trossachs & Teith ward in Stirling. And in 2016 she was a Parliamentary candidate for Mid-Scotland and Fife Region.
Now a resident of Kingsbarns, she looks forward to hearing the views of Fife residents and businesses over the coming weeks to become an effective representative of local views and needs.
Alycia Hayes said:
“I am honoured to have been chosen to represent East Neuk & Landward in the upcoming local elections. My family and I are privileged to live and work in such a beautiful area which has so much to offer, but it has its challenges too. Having had previous experience of representing a rural ward I know very well that housing, tourism and transport will be at the front of peoples’ minds. I look forward to discussing these and other issues on the doorsteps and, if elected, to being an accessible, visible and energetic representative for this wonderful corner of Fife .”
Cllr David Alexander, leader of SNP Group in Fife, said:
“Alycia is a seasoned local representative with tremendous breadth of experience. I am delighted she will be fighting this election for the SNP in East Neuk & Landward and wish her all the best for a successful campaign.”
